Puerist Dragon Ball Blind Sample #2

Dry leaves have a sweet plum odour to them.

The 20 second rinse has a strong richer plum grapes odour to it.

First infusion 20 second infusion pours a darker infusion and has a woody raisin plum taste with a grains and subtle sweetness.  The mouthfeel is a bit gripping.  Sort of reminds me of Yibang a bit.  Some stronger head Qi with heady stuffiness and heaviness. Maybe 5 yrs semi aged.

Second 15 seconds infusion has a watery rich plum grapes taste there is a long cooling in the mouth and very very strong Qi presence in the head.  Makes my brow sweat and gives me an intense but deep uneasy feeling in the chest.  There is this deeper aged out a bit bitter astringency there.  That is pretty present and puckers the mouth a bit.  The aftertaste has a sweet bitter taste.  Very intense Yibang feeling. 10-5 years aged.  I can’t stress how intensely strong the qi is.

Third infusion 10 seconds has a watery almost woody taste with a soapy almost grape taste lingering.  There is this deeper bitter astringency in there that beats Ip my empty stomach a bit.  Humongous Qi in the head with warm brow sweating.  Stuffy heavy head with strong high stoned feeling.  There is also an intense chest feeling of trapped uneasy energy.  So strong!

Fourth infusion 5 seconds is a watery woody faint plum in the aftertaste along with a bland mild deep bitter astringency.  Some faint roasted taste with raisins.  Heady Qi with quite warming energy.

Fifth infusion at flash has a watery woody with a watery mouthfeel with very faint faded plums/ raisins that are hard to grasp at now.  There is a long cooling breath with almost grains cereal dry woody taste.  Could be Autumal material with dry woody cereals?  Strong deep high feeling.  Deeper astringent bitterness.

Sixth infusion is put into an overnight thermos steeping… an hour later I have a sip and it’s a very bitter almost melon bitter sweetness.  With a dry woody base. Dry mouthfeel.  The wet leaf is a bit rough and chopped smaller leaf.

The next day it is a creamy melon almost floral sweetness with long cool sweet melon breath- this overnight definitely reminds me of Yiwu with the lingering melon sweetness…. Overall it seems too overwhelming powerful to be Yiwu… I suppose it’s possible?

Guess: 5-10 yrs old Gushu Yibang.  Possibility pressed with semiaged maocha possibly Autumnal. Strong!

Wrapper Reveal: TQH ‘13 wow! This is a 2013 TongQingHe production in a time before it was widely popular. Never had a TongQingHao this old before!

Mark Turner’s Reveal: Yes, that is Tong Qing He. In 2013 it was beginning to be known, but still not very widely. In the autumn I went with a tea farmer into the forest area of Tong Qing He and we picked tea from a handful of trees growing in the forest. I guess we picked about 4kg of fresh leaves, so ended up with around a kilo of mao cha which I bought and kept for several years. A couple of years back I took all sorts of small amounts of tea and left overs from bigger pressing runs and got them all made into dragon balls.

Peace
