Kim Kyoung Soo's Hwa Row Style

Kim Kyoung Soo's hwa rows are of the electric type.

They exude earthiness and somewhat give the feeling of a wonderfully maintained rock garden.

The square ceramic base is unglazed and mat. It is a wonderful attempt to merge the naturalness of Korean tea culture with modern day conveniences.

  3. Eric,

These beautiful pieces of art are not for sale on any internet site. These artists are amazing yet the world doesn't even know the work of their hands. So this blog is a place that honours them and their art all the while drinking tea. One hopes you enjoy these brief glimpses into their kilns and hearts.

    Peace

  6. Tsultrim topden,

Unfortunately, one hasn't had a chance to meet any of the ultra popular ceramic masters. However, one has bumped into countless artists, not just ceramic artists, while sitting around a tea table in a tea shop with friends.

Tea culture in Korea is very connected to the artistic community and traditionalists in Korea.

In conversations with these people one always gains some kind of knowledge that one never previously knew.

Usually that knowledge is about tea.

    Peace

  9. tsultrim topden,

English is almost a second language over here (if the government had their way it would be). So it would be no problem to come and visit. If you come to Daegu, let me know.

    Eric,

    Thanks for your kind words.

    Peace
