This seems to occur in some capacity in most estates.

Mr. Banerjee set the bar pretty high, pushing other estates to aspire to similar quality.

PeaceMatthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02736984697520031171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1693176331381554957.post-76661014054037947582009-08-29T08:32:17.651-07:002009-08-29T08:32:17.651-07:00I had the pleasure to stay on the Estate and produ...I had the pleasure to stay on the Estate and produce my own batch of tea under the guidance of Raja Banerjee. I can attest to his high standards and organic methods.
The Imperial Silver Tip you mention is not actually a standard production, it is a field sorted tea using only Tips (hence the name) in a manner similar to Silver needle. The tea is then allowed to oxidize to about 80% (such as red / black tea).
While I am a lover of Chinese teas for the most part, This tea is Impressive. It is all done by hand, while most production tea is machine rolled, and only 60% of the production is actualy sold under the "Imperial Silver Tip" name, the rest does not meet standard and is mixed into other productions.
Hope this is helpful!
*(all percentages are estimates from my observations and conversations at the factory and with the employees)Jason M.
