2013 Yang Qing Hao Tai He

This 2013 Yang Qing Hao Tai He goes for $800.00 for 500g or $1.60/g.

Dry leaves have a honey like odour and dry cardboard.

First infusion is a bright tingling watery bitter with long creamy candy finish.  Chalky fluffy mouthfeel with tangerine peach nuances.  Long long candy finish. Chest bubbling.

Second is left to cool and comes out a creamy caramel with bitter onset and long creamy sweet caramel evolution into long candy… very very delicious.  Subtle faint smoke very long candy finish. Chest bubbling with peaceful feeling of harmony.

Third infusion is a bitter peachy fruity with caramel subtle smoke and long candy finish!  Cooled down it is a peachy caramel candy evolution of tastes with a very mild smoke and moderate bitterness.  Long candy sweet finish is really nice.  Big qi swells up like energy building in the chest.

Fourth has a bitter peachy caramel with very long candy sweet finish almost like those fuzzy peachy candies.  Big qi swelling and face flushing with up lifting deep energy charge with high feeling.

Fifth infusion peachy sweet caramel mild bitter smoke. Very delicious long evolving sweet taste of peach, candy and caramel.  Mild bitter and faint smoke.  Chalky fluffy mild mouthfeel and strong space out Qi with build up deep charge.  Face warming qi.

6th is moderate bitter caramel candy. Very sweet almost a strawberries creamy peaches underneath.  Big chest bubbling even in diaphragm.

7th infusion is sweet peachy ashy coco slight pucker tight mouth and weeks roof.  Big qi building with face warming and sweating.  Relaxing uselessness feeling.

8th peachy ashy long sweet taste less bitterness. Less complex sweet taste now and more slight gripping sandy mouthfeel.  Faint coco flavours in moderate bitter taste.  Unless relaxing happening with low productivity at work now!

9th is a sweet bitter woody taste coco flavor is faint more sweet peachy bitter woody balance. Big qi building with lazy relaxing.

10th is a bitter woody some faint coco dry woody sweet underneath but bitterness overtakes it now… chest flutters and face sweats…. Deep useless relaxing.

Still lots of power left in these but too bitter so I put them into an overnight thermos… the next morning it gives off vibrant bright sweetness with bitter woody coco chocolate finish.  Flat tongue mouthfeel.  Strong warming face sweats.

Put into another days long thermos steep it is still oily resin woody rich deep chocolate and bitter sweet coco layers with background smoke…. Deep and delicious.  Big Qi relaxing and mind deep contemplation.

I push it again into a days long thermos… it is a creamy dense caramel but mainly coco bittersweet.  Viscus thick chalky mouthfeel but not at all hard or gripping.  Bitterness but no astringency.

Overall the strong rich dense bittersweet taste is really good and the lazy relaxing low productivity Qi is really nice.  I like this one a lot.

2012 Yang Qing Hao Yeh Gu… Oops

Ok I actually forgot to taste the 2012 Yang Qing Hao Yeh Gu ($480.00 gor 500g cake or $0.96/g in my sequential sampling this past winter/ Spring.

I purchased a cake of this in January 2021 it was $450 at that time.  My notes are here.   I understood it to be a very high quality… probably the best Wild Tea / Yesheng I had tired.  The new site descriptions confirms that it is just that.  It also sort of confirms the exotic musings of Shah8 that it was likely picked deep in a state forest… maybe even poached he goes as far at painting the lore of this tea…. It doesn’t say that but I just love how Shah8 paints that picture in my mind!

I just wanted to add a few notes to compare it to the rest of the 2012 line up of Yang Qing Hao…. It actually fits in really nicely and I can see that Yang was all about creating very powerful complex forest blends that tilt toward power and extraordinary strong Qi experiences in 2012!

2012 Yang Qing Hao Tian Shan Yi Jen

This 2012 Yang Qing Hao Tian Shan Yi Gen goes for $830.00 for 500g cake or $1.66/g.

Fourth has a creamy honey oily viscus sweet taste with a nutty creamy sweet finish.  Sone candy returns and disappears faint bitterness is building lingering coco with that bitterness.  Spacy air mind and heavy shoulders, limbs, face and chest.  The contrast between the heavy bodyfeeling and the light airy feeling in the mind is unique and interesting to me.

Fifth infusion is sweet and evolving taste creamy custard honey linger coco bitterness at the end key feeling. Long creamy custard honey sweet taste with mild bitter coco finish. Almost floating out of body and airy and light feeling Qi.  Freeing and happy.

6th infusion has a creamy custard spicy bready long chocolate coco creamy sweetness.  Very smooth a long with some mild bitterness building at the end into coco. Airy out of body feel.

10th is an overnight thermos and it is an oily viscus bitter sweet coco with thick textured oily feeling and big chest Qi with strong high happy feeling.

11th the leaves have quite a bit of stamina so I push it into another overnight thermos and it comes out delicious oily viscus coco milk chocolate with bittersweet coco bitterness as well.  Mouthwatering delicious!   Mouthfeel is mildly tight chalky but mainly oily tick textured.  Big qi washes over me still…

12th Days long steeping is very very sweet vibrant melon tropical deep fruity vibrancy,  delicious pops of candy like strawburst candies.  Faint mouthwatering creamy chili ate layers.

I push this one into a few days long thermos and it still has enjoyable amounts of creamy chocolate and cherry. Lots of dark cocoa taste in this puerh even after many long pushes… the leaves have great stamina….. thicker oily chalky full textures even very faint smoke…I like this one quite a bit.

These two 2012 from Yang Qing Hao have the feeling of high quality Yibang to me… possibly very nice powerful Yiwu as well! The 666 and Yeh Gu are similarly extra powerful!

2007 Yang Qing Hao Jin Cha

I have never sampled this 2007 Yang Qing Hao JinCha (that goes for $120.00 for 300g mushroom or $0.40/g) before despite its popularity so I am really looking forward to this…

Dry leaves have a woody dusty leaf primarily very sweet odour.

Rinsed leaf  is, again, very sweet.

First infusion has a very sweet creamy candy taste.  Mouthwatering wet mouth.  Very long almost candy finish. Different evolutions of sweetnesses here. Mildly Spacy mind and deep breaths.

Second infusion very sweet rich and slight resin.  Woody sweet very unapologetically Yiwu sweet evolution.  Long sweet finish.  Mouthfeel is a bit grainy and sticky and coarser.  Mild Spacy mind and chest beats with deep breaths. Almost a woody mild bitterness emerges.

Third infusion a very rich resin woody sweet dense taste.  Strong chesty Qi with energy surge.  Spacy happy and energetic brain.  Very strong Qi push here and surge of energy! Cooled down it is a very sweet dense resin woody with long sweet finish slight coco tastes emerge as very mild bitterness comes out in the end. Big energy boost.

Fourth cooled down is a very sweet dense evolving sweet cooling breath long sweet finish…. sweeeeeeeet! Happy uplift and strong energetic boost! Bready and almost leaf but slight coco bitter sweet finish in aftertaste.

Fifth is a sweet leaf evolving sweet taste very dense with grainy mouthfeel slight mild bitterness. Almost coco sweet in finish that comes and goes with a longer flat sweet finish.  Woody almost incense smoke faint lingering.

6th has a punchy woody slight bitter sweet incense woody bark bitter woodiness that is more than sweetnesss now. More of a granular drier feeling in the mouth.  Not much throat feeling at all through the session with a present upper mouthfeeling.

7th The next day I continue the flash steeping with leaves left in the pot…. Bitter sweet woody creamy taste with a coarse chalky taste and mainly dry woody bark finish always with a bit of sweet underlying.  Mild uplift and chest wi is strong.

8th is left to cool but comes off sweet woody mild bitter dry wood finish… mainly sweet with sweet finish disappearing. Mild energy burst and chest opening and sensations.

Although still something left in the tank with this one, I opt for a long mug steeping… hours later it is a sweet woody rich bitterness dark sweetnesses cooling breath long sweetnesss dark chestnuts and dark coco at its depth… yummmy …

Overnight steeping is a melon sweet sort of ashy taste but distinct melon sweet still.

Few days long steeping of spent leaf is still very sweet tasting!   Melon sweet fresh taste still. Drinking this next to the 2007 Yang Qing Hao Huangshan Toucha - the Huangshan has more oily viscosity and vibrant sweet deeper tastes but it is not as sweet as this Jin Cha.

I can see the appeal of this tuo it has a consistent long sweetness and strong energy surge…. Very satisfying for what it is… it’s got some deeper darkness when pushed…

It is also the most “non-Gushu” (but probably old enough) of the Yang Qing Hao that I’ve tried thus far….but I really like it but am insure if I would go to purchase it…

2007 Yang Qing Hao Bitter Brick

I sampled this 2007 Yang Qing Hao Bitterness Brick ($90.00 for 250g cake or $0.36/g) back to back with the 2006 Brick but they are completely different concepts with the 2006 more of a solid blend of lower grade and leftovers at a lower price and 2007 a pure grade of bitter varietals… still low price!

Iron compression very tight brick has dry leaves which have a lemon lime melon sweet odour to them.

Rinsed has a sweet fresh odour.

First infusion has a bitter sweet soapy floral and creamy sweet taste.  Vibrant melon watermelon rinds with soapy floral but creamy and a full taste throughout.  Mouthwatering effect.  Chest opening feeling. Chest and shoulders Qi.  Chest rising into throat sensation with a happy upbeat feeling.

Second infusion has a bitter soapy creamy sweet with bitter long taste.  Big chest body feelings!   Rising into throat.  Cooled down it is bitter long bitter melon rinds with sweet creamy soapy taste.  Big chest beats.

Third infusion has a melon creamy sweet with balanced bitter long taste big chest qi!  Cooled down it has a sweet smooth moderate bitter taste creamy bitter long bitter.  No astringency just straight bitter sweet.

Fourth infusion is left to cool and has a bitter sweet almost coco fruity bready.  Sweet bitter balance with some salivating and bready melon taste.

Fifth infusion is smooth sweet bitter with melon balance full feeling big chest beats and opening. Fresh melon aftertaste.

6th is a creamy full sweet taste with lesser bitter woody taste.

7th is left to cool and is a bitter sweet long bitter woody taste.  Bitter woody with less sweetness now.

8th is sweet woody honey bitter long taste moderate bitter now. Mouthwatering melon rinds.

9th has a sweet bitter woody taste to it.  Brandy woody bitter not as sweet…

Overnight steeping is sweet melon fruity with a mild moderate bitterness that gives it a vibrant refreshing feeling.

If this isn’t Lao Man E then what else could it be? It’s Lao Man E….

2006 Yang Qing Hao Blended Brick

This is the last (4/5g?) sample was from Liquid Proust ordered in 2021ish…

Dry leaves have a sweet dry woody odour.

Rinsed they are a faint sweet woody cardboard.

First infusion has a watery sweet taste as the compression is still quite tight.

Second again is a watery but also creamy sweet taste.   Light creamy sweet with slight dry mouthfeel.  Mild qi so far…

3rd is a creamy sweet pop of fruit taste.  Fruity light with mild dry mouthfeel and throat feel.

4th is a watery sweet taste.  Watery woody slight dry with faint spice and wood notes. Mild relaxing qi slight heavy head.

5th is left to cool and is a creamy watery sweet taste with drying mouthfeel and throat feeling.  Mild relaxing and slight heavy feeling in the body.

6th infusion has a dry woody not as sweet taste.  Mouthfeel and throat feel is the dry gripping type that no one likes. Cooled down is sweet woody watery.

7th cooled down is a woody sweet taste some spice and faint honey caramel dry mouthfeel and throat aren’t my favourite.

8th is left in the cup overnight and is a watery sweet woody not really caramel sugar.

9th is still at flash then left to completely cool down and is  a sweet sugar and almost caramel finishing sweet taste.

10th watery almost fruity sweet initial mild taste.  Sweet mild watery.

Long mug steeping of not that spent leaves is… sweet woody taste.  Dry stored woody.

Overnight infusion is a woody sort of dry woody sweet taste.  Some faint chalky and grassy taste lingering sweet breath.
